A Year of Growth & Connection

Welcome
This yearbook is a powerful example of how a unique theme can completely transform a publication. Its concept is both meaningful and beautifully executed. Centered around the image of a tree, the theme symbolizes deep roots, life, and growth. A tree naturally evokes the idea of time and development, making it a fitting metaphor. Given the school’s religious foundation, the branches also represent a spiritual connection to the source—the tree itself.
The Mesa Grande yearbook staff specifically requested cross-grain embossing throughout the book. This marked our fourth collaboration with them, and they had come to expect—and embrace—the innovative designs we help bring to life. The idea for cross-grain embossing was inspired by one of our previous projects for Garden Grove High School. Seeing that sample sparked their decision to incorporate the technique for the first time in four years, and we were thrilled to make their vision a reality. It was rewarding to know that our work had inspired them.
Initially, the title “Taking Root” was placed too close to the spine and ended up on the hinge—the area where the spine and cover meet. At United Yearbook, we take pride in our attention to detail, so we immediately flagged the issue and worked with the staff to shift the title 0.25 inches away from the hinge. This adjustment ensured that the embossing effect remained intact and visually strong. Had the title stayed on the hinge, the impact would have been significantly reduced. These are the kinds of precise details we help our advisers and staff navigate, ensuring that each yearbook is not just well-made, but truly exceptional. We believe every yearbook is a lasting keepsake—and it deserves to be crafted with excellence.
